2015 NYMC Projection Classes

I will be speaking at the NYMC Lighting & Projection Classes this year, which are taking place June 2-4, 2015. I’m thrilled to be in the company of fellow designers Alan Adelman, Mike Baldassari, Zachary Borovay, John Broderick, Gregory Cohen, Steve Cohen, Abigail Rosen Holmes, Mark Alan “Doctor Mojo” Johnson, Bradley King, Olivia Sebesky, Mark Stanley, Justin Townsend, Joshua White, and Cameron Yeary.

The Live Design Master Classes have a rich history featuring the industry’s top designers and artisans coming together to share their insights and opinions around the world in a relaxed intimate setting. This year, Live Design has announced a new spin on its Master Classes for June 2015. The newly re-christened New York Master Classes (NYMC) are a natural evolution of the acclaimed Broadway Master Classes training series, and offer a broader scope, opening the curriculum to include speakers from all aspects of lighting/projection and sound, including theatre, concerts, dance, opera, and beyond.

C4 – Tal Yarden Interview

We have a new issue of Chance Magazine shipping next week! I did an interview with Tal Yarden about his body of work of cinema adaptations for the stage with Ivo van Hove for the new issue. There are 250+ amazing pages of theater design and philosophy every theater/artist/designer should checkout. If you helped us start the magazine on Kickstarter a few years back, please stay onboard and help us continue the work. There are a lot of great topics planned for future issues. Thanks for your support of this project! I’m thrilled to be part of it.

Everyone’s Attention is available

I’ve completed work on a new LP with Jeffrey Doto entitled Everyone’s Attention. We’ve released 3 EPs the past few years under the Boys & Murderers monicker (for the literary fans).

The album officially releases Sept 23rd. Stream it on Spotify or order it via Amazon and iTunes. If you’re super indie,  stream it on Bandcamp.

It’s 44 minutes of instrumental, electronic music. The songs were written and recorded in dedication to 8 Kickstarter backers of Pop Meets the Void who pitched in big to help fund the movie.

New Monsters / Video Installation

The video art installation An Instrument for the Measure of Absence, which I conceived and created for Temporary Distortion in 2009 during my artist residency at Harvestworks Digital Media Center, will be visiting Seoul, Korea this fall as part of the continuing tour of Maison Des Arts de Creteil’s New Monsters exhibition. If you happen to be in that part of the world, I strongly urge you to make a stop in at the exhibition, if you haven’t yet see the amazing collection of works. More information on the exhibition website here. Here’s an interview of me in 2009 explaining the complexities of the installation.

My second video collaboration with Susan Marshall & Co. “Revel” premiered on WNYC’s Soundcheck Blog this week prefaced by the kind words of Digital Producer Michael Katzif – “Cusick’s rapid-fire smash cuts, intimate camerawork, and tight pacing allows us to follow the action and footwork up close and personal.”
