Wingspace Salon #29

On Monday, June 13 at 8PM, I’m joining Wingspace Theatrical Design and XO Projects for their next salon: From Stage to Screen. For this salon Wingspace has assembled a group of film and television production and costume designers to talk about making the transition into this parallel industry. Many designers are curious about how to parlay their theatrical design skills into a career in television or film. Featured guests include: William Cusick (Pop Meets the Void), Andrew Jackness (Blindspot), Anne Kenney (Late Night with Stephen Colbert), Ola Maslik (Madam Secretary), Neil Patel (Last Week with John Oliver) and others.

Revel featured on Soundcheck Blog

My second video collaboration with Susan Marshall & Co. “Revel” premiered on WNYC’s Soundcheck Blog this week prefaced by the kind words of Digital Producer Michael Katzif – “Cusick’s rapid-fire smash cuts, intimate camerawork, and tight pacing allows us to follow the action and footwork up close and personal.”

Reviews for Welcome to Nowhere

Watch it Now Pick! “Have you ever wondered what would happen if Gregory Crewdson, Sam Shepard, and Cory McAbee took mescaline at a roadside motel and got freaky with a video camera?” – Michael Tully, Hammer to Nail

8 out of 10! “By boldly mashing live action with motion graphics animation, Cusick establishes a universe that falls somewhere between the hyper-real and the unreal.” – Don Simpson, Smells Like Screen Spirit

“Welcome To Nowhere (Bullet Hole Road) is a welcome addition to the realm of surrealist fantasy where each viewers subjective reality itself lends to the purposely subjective fractured narrative.” – Steve Rickinson, Indiewood/Hollywoodn’t

“A fever dream of a road movie!” – Rob Hubbard, 366 Weird Movies

“This used to be the stuff of cult classics.” – Kentucker Audley, No Budge

The film continues streaming for free on No Budge until Oct 18. The film has over 1000+ views in only 2 weeks, please give it a look before it’s gone.

QWFF Founders’ Choice Award

The Queens World Film Festival honored our film Welcome to Nowhere (Bullet Hole Road) with one of their highest honors – the Founders’ Choice Award, recognizing the film as one of their quintessential selections of 2013. We’re deeply grateful for this award for the support of our local community of filmmakers in Queens, NYC. The film was shot largely in Long Island City, and the production company Temporary Distortion has been based in Queens since its founding in 2002. Many thanks go out to Don & Katha Cato for their tireless commitment to the festival and the filmmakers they support.
